Money and Happiness

Money and happiness intersect and collide in our financial decision making. Whether it’s deciding to buy or sell an investment, spend on a vacation, or share some of what we have, we often neglect happiness as a factor to be considered. Other, stronger emotions of the moment, like fear, greed, anxiety, and excitement, take over. Financial professionals must remain aware of the impact of emotions when delivering advice. Otherwise, they will have clients who do not follow advice, or question its soundness, or who do the opposite. Miscommunication can happen on both sides of the conference table. Instead, with self-awareness, both professionals and clients can have deeper dialogue leading to better, longer-lasting decisions.
