Thanks Russ – I got a lot more horror stories than good stories so it’s nice to know someone out there had a good experience.

    Hey Holly,
I am a dental hygienist and you reinforce what I believe…people are not stupid. I graduated in 1976 and have been in clinical practice ever since. My biggest gripe about my job is that dentistry is no longer a profession as it was when I began, but is now, striclty business, all about the money. Your part about the dental hygienist being the lead “sales” person is spot on because the rational goes that the hygienist is the person the patient sees most frequently and consequently trusts the most. Yes, we are there to make a living but I think that what the patient needs gets lost in what what can be sold. Thankfully, there are still some “ethical” dentists, others, not so much Bottom line..if you question a treatment plan presented to you, get a second opinion from a dentist referred to you by someone you trust.
